Docx files not opening in Pages v14 on Sequoia

Since Pages is not a Word clone, if that Word document contains content that Pages cannot translate into a .pages document format then it will not open that Word document. Another possibility is that the Word document is in some manner damaged (from Pages perspective) potentially owing to a generated Word .docx from something other than MS Word.

In that case, I open that Word document in a current LibreOffice (e.g. 25.8.3) and then save it as a Word 2010 - 365 Document (.docx) with a different name. Usually, Pages is more than happy to open this revised Word document.

Be careful to select the correct LibreOffice platform (e.g. macOS (Apple Silicon), or macOS (Intel)) for your Mac hardware architecture before the download.

I have used this alternative technique for years (including StarOffice on Solaris in 1997) for those Word documents that resist opening.
