Quartiles game not saving progress.

Yes, I deleted the Apple News App then reinstalled the app thru the App Store. Quartiles is working perfectly today. As far as history erased, I’m not sure.

I deleted the app then restored it and now Quartiles is saving my words.

HOLD THE PHONE! Literally :). Looks like the workaround for now on iPhone and iPad in Apple News is to NOT close the News app. You can swipe News up to show apps and run something else but don’t swipe off screen to kill the app. This keeps it open and you can return to it without a score reset.

This was not the case before a week or so ago. Killing app would preserve score but no longer so do not kill the News app until you are done playing Quartiles.

Same here. After I click X to leave the game, the next time I reenter the game my score has been reset to 100 or just above it, the last level (the one on top) is empty and that word appears, ready to be checked and accepted. When checked, it says it has already been found. If I click on the score and go to the leaderboard, I see my correct (high) score. So Apple’s Quartiles server seems to know what I have entered earlier. But to the left of that score, in the background, I see my incorrect (low) score. Frustrating…

My wife and I are in our 70’s and have made Quartiles a special hour of our day. I hope it gets fixed soon.

it is a shame this all started. I have the same problem if I leave the game to read News as I must close out the Quartiles puzzle. I no longer do that and read news, dive into Quartiles until I'm done with it.

Quartiles unattended. Hmmm, I did not realize that also caused an issue with score reset. I need to try that today and see what happens. I seem to always get reset to 1, 2 or 4 points above 100. So the test is convenient, I guess as I can get to 100, find two more words and then walk away from it for a couple hours and see if the inactivity resets my score.

How can the Quartliles team not have solved this problem by now? Maybe they are all Quartiles whiz-kids and solve right way. I only get all the words about once every couple weeks and I noticed when you get them all the score sticks. Sticks are 100-ish and perfect but not in-between. Grrrrr.

The downside is that you should not leave the puzzle, even to read a news article or work on another puzzle, until you are done with Quartiles. Also, you should not leave Quartiles unattended too long, because (at least on my iPad) Apple's News app will exit the puzzle and display its news. Do you happen to have any workarounds for those scenarios? (I'm hoping!)

Been thinking about that Sunnywat -- thank you. Don't think I've ever deleted an Apple app. So you deleted News and then re-installed News from the Apple App Store? Yeah, OK, dumb question but want to be sure as I don't want to mess up News.

Any side-effects like puzzle play history getting wiped away?

Same issue for me and my mom. She’s 86 and lives independently. Communicating about the quartiles game is our daily check-in. Very frustrating!
