How to get a refund for an unused Duolingo annual subscription on App Store?

Hello,

I need help with a refund for my Duolingo annual subscription.

Here is the situation:

— The payment was charged without my knowledge on November 5.

— I did not use the subscription at all.

— The subscription currently shows as “active but paused.”

— I have already submitted two refund requests through reportaproblem.apple.com, but both were denied.

— Now I am trying to submit a third request, but the website does not allow me to create a new refund request.

Please help me resolve this issue and return the funds, as the charge was accidental and the subscription was not used.

I am ready to provide any additional information if needed.

Thank you!

  • Subscriptions always renew unless cancelled by you before the renewal date. That is true for any subscription, as an example, I am billed for Netflix every month whether I watch any of the shows or not, and if I do not want to be charged again I have to cancel the subscription myself.
  • Apple is not monitoring your device to make sure you are using an app where you have signed up for a subscription.
  • With the subscription showing "active but paused", you have successfully cancelled the subscription and will not be charged again for it. It is showing active because you still get access for the service you have already paid for, but at the end of that term it will show "Cancelled".
  • You only get 1 appeal after a refund refusal and after that the decision is final.
