Pages Crashes, Loses All Work, MacBook Air M2 8GB Under Tahoe

Tahoe 26.1 - with this installed, Pages crashes when I try to save a document - all work is lost evidenced by bringing up same document after I go into Activity Monitor and force the unresponsive Pages to quit. It does not seem to be creating any interim saves.

I'm on a MacBook Air, M2, 8GB. Note all was fine until I installed Tahoe from Sequoia.

Try launching the Page.app holding the Shift key down and compare your results— this is a bit of fresh launch.

if the App is stuck and you have to force Quit use the drop down menu

>Force Quit>Pages.app if it is not responding.

Pages has a "Revert to" —>Previously saved version option see if there is anything saved there...

Another option is on-board Time Machine local snapshots

I've had this same problem since 26.0 - I'm on an M3 Max with 64gb of Ram.

It got better for a while, but came back with a vengeance 26.1 - I lost a quarter of a novel; it was just - gone. No options for revision history, Time Machine didn't help. It just erased text from a saved file.

Nothing has helped - my only solution is to copy recent work into Notes before saving and to frequently export PDFs.

Entire communities here and on Reddit are very dismissive that it's happening at all, which is really sad as it prevents people who are having this issue from speaking up or working towards a solution.

Now I'm wondering if some sort of Tahoe macOS patch was recently released. Before I posted, I had shut down my MacBook Air a few times and restarted, but that didn't help.

Recently, this seems to have cleared up, hopefully for good. Is confusing because About still shows Tahoe 26.1 . Maybe patches can be released that don't change the release or version number??

Either way, is good to get my MBA back again, so to speak!
