Missing Digital ID option to add passport to Wallet

I would like to add my passport to the wallet on my iPhone 13 with iOS 26.1. I am using two factor authentication.

I can open my wallet, tap on the “+”, and then tap on “Driver’s License and ID Cards”. When that opens, there is a list of state licenses that are eligible, plus an I’d for Japan, but there is no “Digital ID” choice to select in order to add the passport.

what am I missing?

Ok, the problem was a PICNIC (problem in chair, not in computer). I was sure I had updated all the way to 26.1, but in fact I was at 26.0.1. Updated, feature appeared and worked as advertised.

i will mentioned that first level support never asked what version I was on, nor did they check what the phone was reporting. They also wanted to know what state my passport was from. I got transferred to Wallet support and they spotted the cause right away.

So, why doesn’t “Digital ID” appear?

It's just too new for us to have an understanding of why it's not working for you. It worked fine me when I added my Passport to my wallet yesterday. Do you by chance have your Drivers license in your wallet already? If you do, evidently, you can one or the other, but not both ID's in your wallet.

Otherwise, you'll need to contact Apple Support for help. Since you're in the US, you can call Apple at: 800-MY-APPLE. If you get this resolved, please come back and explain what you did so it will help others.

Where are you located and what region is your iPhone set to?
