Can Apple Intelligence summarize web pages in Safari without me having to manually select all text?

On iPhone’s that supports Apple Intelligence, is it possible to summarize entire webpages in Safari using Apple Intelligence with the click of a button without needing to manually select and copy all the text? Could you elaborate on what kind of summarization options are available (e.g., bullet points, numbered list with facts, a paragraph, etc.)? I’ve been using a Safari extension (Toksy) that summarized entire webpages into a 4-point bullet list, but that stopped working recently. But if I buy a new iPhone, can it summarize long articles on webpages in Safari with the click of a button?

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 26

FilipOfficial ~ Yes, it's possible with a custom shortcut. But you may have to tap Safari's 'Share sheet' icon to run your 'Summarize' shortcut — which would use two shortcut 'actions':

  • Get Contents of Web Page (at Shortcut Input)
  • Use Model (iPhone 15 Pro models, and iPhone 16 models or later)

...In that Use Model action you would specify what form the summary should take: Bullet points, paragraphs, etc.

Below is a YouTube video showing the basic steps for using Apple Intelligence to summarize via the Share sheet:

Using Apple Intelligence

For large amounts of text you will need to use the ChatGPT option in the Use Model action. That being the case, ChatGPT shortcut actions (not Use Model actions) are already available for your iPhone 12 Pro Max once you've downloaded the ChatGPT app.
