Migrating data to a new iMac—All my settings and preferences lost

I recently got a new iMac to replace an older one. I migrated my data from the old one using the Migration Assistant. But all my settings and preferences have been lost, plus my browsers’ histories, my calendar entries, and probably more that I haven’t discovered yet. Question: If I try transferring the data from a Time Machine backup of the older one, will that stuff show up? Or any other suggestions?
