Sound playing with volume turned to 0

I just got my new iPhone 17. I noticed that when I turn the media volume off (either through the action buttons on the left or through the control center), media sound will still come out of the phone (at a low volume though). I tried restarting my phone, but it does not fix the issue. I was wondering if there is any way to fix this?

You are playing the media, though what? YT Premium, Apple Music, Apple TV, or Podcast?

You may try this.

Go to Settings → Accessibility → Audio & Visual → Background Sounds
Toggle Off

Some apps have their own internal volume that ignores the phone’s media level.

Examples:

YouTube
Instagram Reels
WhatsApp
Third-party Games

There is no media off setting, only low. The Mute switch/action button does not turn off media, never has.
