ExFat RAID not mounting Mac OS 26

I recently set up a hardware DAS RAID in a RAID1 config. I formatted the disks initially with ExFAT on my M4 Mac Mini, in part to ensure compatibility with the Mac first and foremost. The RAID itself was not set up using the Mac but is a hardware switch on the device. Initially, all was connecting and showing just fine in Disk Utility. The backup files for the RAID, however, were transferred to the RAID disk using Windows and Linux (the drives were from an older NAS and not readable by the Mac). File copying went fine and the RAID connects on Windows and Linux without issue, but now not on the Mac.

I've read that there are some issues floating about concerning ExFAT with Mac, however, I can't really troubleshoot on the Mac as Disk Utility hangs when the RAID is connected and I'm unable to even see my primary Mac drive (spinning circle of doom). If the RAID is disconnected, it starts up without issues and if I then plug the RAID cable in, the drives never appear. I know its also not the cable or hardware itself as there is also an NVMe in the RAID hardware serving as my Time Machine. Hard drives are new.

I did read something about "if you copy files to and ExFAT disk from Windows, you may run into issues accessing the RAID on your Mac", but no solutions to this.

Any thoughts? I thought I may try Apple Support next but wondering if anyone else has had this odd experience.
