Face ID on iPad mini pro

Why doesn’t Apple offer Face ID on iPad mini? I want to upgrade, but will not if Apple doesn’t offer Face ID on the mini.

Your iPad mini is equipped with a TouchID sensor. All models of iPad and iPad Pro in recent years support either TouchID or FaceID - but not both.

All iPad models that support TouchID have its sensor incorporated within the Top (Sleep/Wake) button - or for older models, within the Home button at bottom centre of the screen.

iPad Pro models are unique within the full iPad range - in that they lack the TouchID sensor, this being replaced by a FaceID sensor (consisting of an Infrared Dot Projector and TrueDepth Camera array) positioned within the narrow screen bezel. This FaceID sensor array is absent from iPad models that support TouchID.
