How do I add Markers to the timeline in simplified mode?

Here is what I want to do.

I want to place a 'small' marker (it should look a lot like the head of an arrow pointing downwards) in the timeline and if possible or necessary, I want to be able to snap to it. I want to do this in Simplified mode.

It is not "Advanced" to put markers (or some method of notating the timeline) inside a timeline. Every Adobe product with a timeline has this feature.

I don't want a "Tab" as long as infinity, which is what Logic can give you when you perform this very rudimentary task in "Advanced" mode. I dont want a tab.

I want a little downward pointing arrow, just like every other software that features a rudimentary Marker object. Often, in that same software, you can do this simply by hitting "M" during playback, (I know... that's wild right? And even crazier, you can even snap the edge of tracks to it!) but not in Logic's "Simplified" mode.

Question 2 (Optional) : Can anyone please offer a rational, intelligent reason why I cannot perform this in Logic when EVERY OTHER DAW I have ever used in my life has allowed me to? What is the reasoning behind the convoluted (and poorly executed) method Logic employs? I want a 'tic mark' in the timeline when I press a key. That's all. Simple.
