Desktop Screen Saver not responding to Reverse/Forward Keystrokes

Those of you who have used iMac long enough know exactly what was lost with OS updates.

Does anyone know a workaround / Screensaver App that will allow Reverse/Forward/Pause of the Photo Screensaver stream?

Any solution to this problem would be appreciated. Thank you.
