Apple TV 4K shuts Off When Starting "The Morning Show"

Our Apple TV shuts itself off as we transition through certain content. We have the latest Apple TV 4k with the latest software and this issue has been going on for a while. It happens mainly when we start The Morning Show, and then again when the show switches between the intro and the main show. Maybe it has something to do with the color settings?

We also see this happen with some (but not all) Netflix content.

We've made sure to turn off any 'sleep' settings on the our Sonos Sound Bar and our LG TV.

Is the screen just briefly going black or is it rebooting the system? If it's the former then that will happen when your TV is switching display modes. Typically it will occur when match frame rate and dynamic range are on.

Turn on Match Dynamic Range or Match Frame Rate on your Apple TV - Apple Support (CA)

However, if the Apple TV is actually rebooting (display going black for longer period, light on Apple TV box flashing and then booting to the main menu) you can try to disconnect from power and reconnect after 10 seconds. If it persists try a restore. Beyond that you should contact Apple support.

Did you cross reference your TV picture settings and try connecting on another port? Hopefully the restore helps, otherwise contact Apple. You may still need to bring in the unit for diagnostics and determine if there is an issue that can be resolved or if it's the hardware.

I would test on a different port to see if it persists. However, it does sound as if the unit needs to be looked at by Apple.

Thank you, it's a full reboot from scratch. It is sort of funny that an Apple TV show is where it shows up. I'll try a ful restore and see if that helps. Now that I think of it we're also getting a lot of color interference that at first looked like we'd blown out our television but only appears when we use the Apple TV. We are using quality HDMI cables so I don't think that's the issue.

I'm going to work on the TV next although it appears to operate fine without the Apple TV so I'm suspicious. I did a full reset and the only change it made was that now when the box turns itself off, it turns itself back on again.

There's also some odd color shifting going on when I switch from one service to another. I feel like if the TV itself were causing the issue then I'd see that same color problem on the TV without the box.
