I am experiencing the same issue as you have.
I have reached out to Amazon today Sunday 9 November (I live in South Africa).
This is what the consultant I spoke to wrote:
"I'm sorry for inconvenience
As I’ve checked, the issue is currently affecting both iOS and macOS devices. Our technical team is actively working on resolving it, and we expect it to be fixed soon. Please don’t worry — we’re doing everything we can to ensure a smooth experience for you. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused."
In the chat, he wrote that there will be an update soon!
I again chatted to Amazon Customer Service today and here is part of the thread:
Amazon agent
I checked with my resources for you.
Me
okay
it has been an issue for the last 10 days for many Apple users
Amazon agent
Upon checking I can see that, our technical team is still working on to fix this issue.
I'm really sorry for the inconvenience caused.
I can understand how upsetting this must be for you.

Any time line?
time line to resolution
Amazon agent
Usually all the issues will be fixed when we raise complaint to our technical team as soon as possible.
This is taking little time for the issue to get fixed, please dont worry, I will follow up this issue for you and mail you once this issue is fixed.
The agent showed empathy but still no resolution.
The issue is with Amazon not with any of our Macs.
When I visited the App Store, I note the current version is 7.45.1 which is the troublesome version.
When I click on the Version History hyperlink as indicated in the image above, I get the following
Version 7.45.1 was updated about 1 week ago (as indicated above by the arrow) and from that time all our trouble started.
I keep monitoring this list and once a new version appears (higher > 7.45.1) I hope this will solve the crashing issue.
I wonder whether we could downgrade to an earlier stable version. Has anyone perhaps tried?
Please contact Kindle Support for help with this. It looks like your macOS is eligible, but there may be other issues they can help you with.
I am running Ventura 13.7.8 on a MacBook Pro and having the same issues this morning... tried all the "tricks" and nothing works. However, I opened up Kindle on my iPhone 14 and my iPad Pro 2nd generation with OS version 26.1 and they are both working nicely.... Hope the computer issue gets resolved since reading on small screens is challenging... :)
That is what I have also resorted to. I have an iPhone Xs and it is the only device I can access to read Kindle books.
From the start of this thread, it seems that the issue has been ongoing for about 10 days: not very good for Amazon’s reputation!
I did contact Kindle Support (which is really Amazon) and they claimed it was an Apple problem.
thank you for this update…..
I managed to open Kindle successfully a few minutes ago on my Mac.
It seems everything is now okay.
I noted that it is version 7.42.1
I hope Amazon technical guys have now sorted it out.
This morning I tried opening Kindle on the Mac to continue monitoring it.
Alas the same issue cropped up again, it crashed.
Therefore it seems they (Amazon) have not sorted out the issue yet?
