A low battery ended in a kidnapped Mac laptop
I have a 13" Mac Pro laptop, 2020. I got a notice that the battery was a 950 recharges and it is rated for 1000. So I took it into the Apple store on a Thursday. They said they would have to send it out for the replacement to a repair depot. The store said I would have it back on Tuesday, 5 days later.
On Wednesday, when the laptop didn't arrive, I called and was told they were repairing it and I would have it any day.
On Friday, 8 days after I dropped it off, I called and was told they were repairing it. I told them I didn't believe them and to look harder. Then, Apple customer service told me the repair depot was out of batteries and they didn't know when they would have batteries or when I could get my laptop back. So I asked to have it sent back. They said I would have it on Wednesday, 13 days after I dropped it off.
On Tuesday, I called to get the tracking number and was told I would have the number by the end of the day.
On Wednesday, not having heard from Apple, I called again. Now I was told I was never going to have it sent back before being repaired. I was also told that they had no idea why I was promised many times that it could come back to me without being repaired. Basically, I was given a different story every time I called. Apple said they couldn't imagine why that was.
I was promised that they could try to do more to help me on day 22, but that they weren't allowed to tell me how they would help. I just had to wait until that day.
So my laptop is in a known location but it is not known when if ever I will get it back. Apple says they are sorry but there is nothing they can do.
I want to declare it as lost since Apple cannot even tell me the month I will see it again. Please advise.
