Rapid battery drain on iPad Pro after iOS 26 update

I see lost of posts about rapid battery drain post major iOS upgrade, be it phone or iPad all suggesting this is quite normal for the first several hours or days whilst the device re indexes and adjusts to the new OS etc.... but I'm more that 3wks in and still getting rapid drain, whats the problem? I've not added/deleted any apps, all are fully updated from the App Store, I don't get it... My iPad is becoming difficult to use off a constant charge source for large periods of use.

Example - device at 100% charge, disconnect from charge lead and leave the iPad unused on a desk for say 4 or 5 hours pick it and its now showing 65-70% remaining at best. Use for 45mins of Zwift connected turbo training, lose as much as 30% battery in single session (50% screen brightness). Watch a movie typically 2Hrs, lose as much as 50% (50% screen brightness). Surf the web in Safari or Edge, lose as much as 20% per hour. Us Apple notes with an Apple pencil for a 1 hour meeting, lose as much as 35% and so on.... Despite being the 5G variant, its usually connected to my home or office WiFi6 network, rarely use 5G - note to self for next time!

Regardless of what I use it for now, the battery is now typically down to 10% remaining or dead within a working day period without regular charge stops. Prior to iOS26, the iPad ran for 2-3 days with the same usage profile typically consuming about 25-35% per day with equivalent usage and would always give me at least 2-2.5 working days between charge based on my typical usage style.

Am I alone, is there a fix?

Your description might suggest a failing battery that is reaching the end of its useful lifespan.

You would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support - and request a remote diagnostic test. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.

Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to hands-on test and assess your iPad. If a fault is identified, you'll be in the best possible place to explore your available options:

Apple have edited my post significantly - and removed the line about no longer being able to charge using my 3rd party (Amazon) magnetic desk stand via the 3 rear connection points .... Again this seems like a SW lock that has been applied to top me using 3rd party accessories other than my Logitech keyboard case. Asking does anyone else have this issue also...

Given this additional information, are you able to successfully charge your iPad (and achieve better battery autonomy) when using a standard USB-C Power Adapter that supports USB PD and is rated at 20W or greater?

Again this seems like a SW lock that has been applied to stop me using 3rd party accessories other than my Logitech keyboard case which remains functional. Makes no odds - I use a PD charger for USB-C direct to iPad and USB-C to desk stand - using a none Apple brand 65W PD charger or my genuine Apple charger 35W (from my MacBook Air M4). Battery life is the same regardless of charge source.. I would add the charge sources are same today as they where prior to iOS 26. Currently running yesterday iOS 26.1 update (UK)
