Tahoe update 26.0.1 on MacBook Pro

Good afternoon folks I hope that you are all well.

Have just taken delivery yesterday of a new MacBook Pro purchased directly from Apple not a third party vendor.

The laptop informed me by way of a Red circle in the settings that an update was available and as usual I trusted Apple and started the download. There is plenty of disc space and the laptop is plugged into mains using Apple adaptor. However, the download just keeps going and going and had to restart. Tried this a number of times but same effect. The error message is "Failed to personalise the software update. Please try again later." Along with a suggestion to check internet connection. Internet is fine so went back online and there are a number of posts warning about this same issue . Might be an idea not to download Tahoe until Apple sort this out!!!

Come on Apple please do something!

Have you correctly entered your Apple-ID on this new computer?

MacOS is not copy-protected in the usual sense:

Apple software downloaded from the Mac App Store, including MacOS, is not copy protected. However, it IS tagged with the Apple-ID of the purchaser when "purchased" (or equivalent. Think of MacOS as purchased on sale for $0.) A valid Apple-ID is required for almost all downloads from the Mac App Store.

You cannot update, upgrade, or install new software based on already-installed software UNLESS you supply the Apple-ID of the original software. Or in your case, a NEW or established Apple-ID.

Open settings

Be sure you have signed in with an Apple-ID that you want to continue to use with this computer.

When you download software from the Mac App Store, it will be customized with the currently logged in Apple-ID/Apple-Account of the computer that downloaded that software.

If that does not work immediately, Restart your computer and ty again.
