Sorting by artist works on my Mac, but not my iPhone

In my macOS Music app, I use the Sort Artist field to sort solo acts by [last name, first name]. That works well. Here's a screenshot to show that it's working as expected. I have all music by David Bowie tagged with "Bowie, David" in the Sort Artist field, so he shows up in the B's.

On my iPhone, however, David Bowie shows up in the D's, as if I never used the Sort Artist function.

I've triple checked my David Bowie songs, and they are all tagged correctly as far as I can tell. This also seems to be the only artist that has this issue. Is there a way to get my iOS Music app to behave in this regard?
