Apple TV app on Chromecast with Google TV hangs when started

A couple of days ago, after trying to start the Apple TV app (version 16.0.0) on Chromecast with Google TV, I just get the Apple TV logo on the screen and it stays there until you force stop the app. I've tried force stopping and starting the app again, clearing cache and uninstalling and reinstalling the Apple TV app it but still end up with the same issue. Apple TV on my MacBook Air is fine so not an account issue.
