Apple Music automatically downloading music

This has kept happening to me and I've been looking all around for solutions. It may have to do with my Mac being connected to Apple Music. Apple Music is currently taking up 12 Gb of space in my phone. I already have automatic downloads turned off (and I've tried turning it off and on and resetting); I've tried signing out and clearing the downloaded music, but it just downloads again. If someone can help it'd be great because it also slows my WiFi down when it's downloading songs for no reason. Apple please come up with a fix for this it's been a problem for years, or I might be forced to switch to Spotify.

Are you sure you are not syncing the Music from your Mac and that is being done over WiFi?

If that is the case you have to stop syncing the music on your Mac with your connected phone in the Finder/iTunes. After you change those settings, click Apply and those songs will no longer sync from your Mac.

I assume you have a subscription to Apple Music, is that true?
