Notes on iPad Pro keeps shutting down (crashing) in less than a minute

The Notes app on my iPad Pro (11-inch) (3rd Gen) keeps shutting down. I have lots of documents in Notes, bunched together in different folders. I need to shift all these folders to Files before I can delete the app and download it again. How do I move the folders from Notes to Files? Please help & many thanks in advance.

If your notes associated with the Notes App are synchronised with iCloud, you can safely delete the Notes App from your iPad without risk of losing your notes:

Settings > [Your Name / Apple Account] > iCloud > [Saved to iCloud] See All > Notes > Sync This iPad - set to ON

Moving notes from the Notes App to the Files App, should you need to do so, is supported - but is perhaps not immediately obvious...

iOS/iPadOS notes are a proprietary file type used within the Notes App. To save your Notes to the Files App, the notes must be individually exported to another file type, such as Markdown or PDF:

Various iCloud storage plans are available, including 50GB, 200GB, 2TB, 6TB and 12TB.

Another method to copy notes is to simply drag-and-drop from Notes to Files - the exported files being saved with as ".rtfd" (Rich Text Format Directory) files.

If you are not familiar with using drag-and-drop using multi-finger gestures between Apps, this is most easily a achieved on the iPad using side-by-side App windows.

While the previous Slide Over view is not currently available, Split View remains. You can have two or three App windows side-by-side - or a spit the screen into four quadrants.

To access, assuming that the current App window is not maximised; touch-and-hold the traffic-light icon at top-left of the App window to expose the Fill & Arrange options:

The current App window will move aside, allowing you to open another App; the selected view will open the selected Apps in their own windows - which can be resized laterally, as before, by dragging the divider to left or right.

If the App window is already maximised, swipe downwards from the top-edge of the screen to expose the new menu bar - then use the traffic-light icon as described above.

Thank you LotusPilot.

A portion of my Notes is indeed synchronised with iCloud, but a bulk of the data is resident on the iPad.

Transferring all that to iCloud may not be possible, given that it's around 450GB. Transferring each individual file is also a tedious task. Plus, it's likely to take me forever, given that Notes shuts down even in the midst of the transfer process.

I tried deleting the app and then reloading through an earlier back-up, but it was back to square one. I guess the only solution is draining out the data, deleting the app completely and then reloading it for only new data.

Hence, I was looking at a process to shift Folders, instead of individual files.

Thanks for responding.
