ChatGPT via Apple Intelligence not recognizing my age

I had the same issue on my iPhone where I couldn't use Visual Intelligence because the system said I had to be at least 13 years old. Both my Apple ID and my ChatGPT account already had my correct age, so the message made no sense.

I finally found the cause:

iCloud → Apple ID → Personal Information → Age Group for Apps

The setting "Share with Apps" was not set to Always.

After switching it to Always, Visual Intelligence started working immediately.

Go into your settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Extensions > ChatGPT

Make sure that you are signed into your ChatGPT account. This was my issue when I set up my new phone I failed to sign into my ChatGPT account. Once I did that the 13-year-old warning went away.

I had the same problem! Try this it worked for me.

Go to settings

Apple intelligence & Siri (Scroll down)

See under Extensions -> ChatGPT (press and enter in)

ChatGPT Account -> Sign in

I needed to restart my phone for it to work. Try it. It worked for me.

Also remember to press the capture button or it will still give to age message if you press ask without clicking on the capture button

I explain also my case I hope that can help someone. In my specific case all the settings was set in a correct way but still not working at all. I tried to re-tap on "sharing age for apps" like indicated in the top answer and doing this iOS prompt me to confirm this thing as if it hadn't been set up I think it was a system bug also given my recent transition from iPhone 12 (without apple intelligence) to 17

If anyone else is still having issues with Apple Intelligence stating that you must be 13 to use it and signing into your ChatGPT account did not get rid of it, you may have to log into ChatGPT on a web browser and verify your age.

No it's not a bug. According to ChatGPT's policy you must be at least 13 years of age. Also, an Apple Account that is under 13 years of age cannot change their birthdate on their own.

Odd, I am logged into my ChatGPT account (I have a pro subscription), and Apple Intelligence keeps giving me the age restriction warning.

Of course, I have no problem using ChatGPT on the ChatGPT app itself on iPhone.

I have the same problem, I keep getting this annoying message when I use apple intelligence through the camera side button on my iphone 17 pro max, and when I use ask chatgpt. I am already logged in with my apple ID in the chatgpt app, and I am also logged in with my apple ID under settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Extensions > ChatGPT.

So what can I do to make it stop telling me that I need to be 13 or older to use it ?

For me too I am both signed in to ChatGPT in Siri settings and have personal information set to always. Still have the issue. It’s only since iOS 26. Gemini doesn’t have this issue. Apple really are falling behind Google these days. Google have their sh*t together.
