Does this charger port on MacBook Air A1465 model look broken?

Before I spend any money on a charger to see if this MacBook Air works as found in a skip, 100% thrown away. Wondered opinions on whether it is worth going back to rubbish or possible refurb?

That MagSafe port is very dirty & needs to be cleaned up, but otherwise the contacts look good.

However, there is a bend in the frame next to the MagSafe port. This bent frame may have damaged the I/O Board there.....the MagSafe port is part of that I/O Board. Plus with such an impact/stress, it may be caused the internal I/O Cable connections to pop loose.

A used Mac is nearly always 100% completely useless unless its previously authorized user correctly prepared it for sale. I suspect the reason you found it in a bin was that someone already determined that.

  • Any Mac that was not sold directly from Apple or an authorized Apple reseller is by definition used.

I would not spend a nickel on it. Put it back where you found it.
