process of keywording is very buggy and glitches often - how to make it go more smooth

While trying to quickly type keywords there is something that is slowing me down.

It takes sometime up to 1 or 2 seconds for the system to register and accept a keyword.

Then when I start typing another keyword and about half way through typing the next keyword the system glitches, erases what I have typed and then begins halfway through the word I have just typed.

For example - I will start typing the keyword "brick wall" - the system will glitch when I hit the letter c and erase all I have typed and them I will end up with the key word "k wall"

Why is this happening? and how can I stop this from happening. It is really interrupting my flow.

This is in Mac OS Sequoia 15.7.1 - but has been happening for years over previous OS as well

I am seeing this too on macOs 26 Tahoe, Richard. It happens, when I try to enter a new keyword directly in the Info, without creating it before in the Keyword Manager. Simply typing a new keyword into the "Add a keyword" field in the Info of a photo used to create a new keyword.

But now it happens occasionally that the Info panel is losing the focus and text we write is getting lost, just like when we are trying to name a face.

As you wrote, using the Keyword Manager is still working fine, but I can use it only for the most frequently needed keywords, as there are not enough shortcuts for all keywords.

This does not happen for me. When you're entering a keyword it should offer options from your list as you type, which saves lots of time. Are you not seeing these options? Perhaps you're interrupting that process?

Do you use keyword shortcuts? You can see this:

Find photos by keyword in Photos on Mac - Apple Support

To use shortcuts, you have to keep the Keyword Manager open, but you can move it out of the way. (I leave a tiny bit of the top visible in at the bottom of the screen.)

I may wait for 26.2! But nueve_leon said he was in 15.

The focus thing is disturbing. I'm editing some pictures with Lightroom, so I'm popping back and forth between apps, I've got Keyword Manager and the Info Window open, and I hit Return expecting to go into Edit Mode, and I've just added a new keyword, or something. It's not obvious which window is active. Maybe the inactive windows should be dimmed a bit. But that's the focus issue getting me in trouble. Oh, also adding those little face name circles, of course.

I've looked at the Keyword Manager but haven't figured out how to use it efficiently when I have between 500 and 1000 keywords - it just seems like too much scrolling to find the specific ones I want to use. Particularly when I want to add 3 or more keywords to a single photo.

Autocomplete seems to work pretty well about 70% of the time. It is the other 30% of the time when it glitches that drives me crazy - and results in accidentally adding many, many partial keywords to the long list I already have.
