Find My Phone / Reset Password

If I’m trying to find my phone on a windows computer, and I need to sign in to be able to find it but can’t remember my password and the site sends me a link on my phone to change the **** password does that mean I’ll never find my phone? Cz I’m looking for the phone which permission has been sent to to change my **** Passover fro sign into my account to find it!!!!!
