Type C wired Earphones; play/pause NOT WORKING

I recently shifted from Iphone 12 to Iphone 17 and had to upgrade to the Type-C wired earphones but I noticed that when I press in the center, it does not play or pause the song. I am able to turn on Siri and make calls, and even turn the volume up/down but the PLAY/PAUSE SEEMS TO BE NOT WORKING.
