Why so much System Data?
My MacBook Air, 13-inch, M4, 2025, has 500 GB hard drive, 174.95 GB of it is System Data. Why so much System Data?

APFS snapshots?
Look in Disk Utility / Show All Devices / the main volume under the main container.
Don't delete the high tidewater entry.

Snapshot UUID: 1EFEE9E3-F224-4759-A888-013799E14655
Just one snapshot? There should be many of them.

Only if one is using Time Machine for backups.
I would always use Time Machine as one component in a multilevel backup scheme. But I don’t know if the OP is doing that or not.
