Letters on keyboard not working when doing recovery

I've had to do a recovery on my 2015 iMac and now I have to put in the password for my internet and the letters are not working. The keyboard itself works as I can use the arrows, enter and back button, but none of the letters. I have tried a different keyboard, and I get the same result. Any suggestions how I can fix this?
