Picture is sometimes too dark

Apple TV is too dark but only during the day. After dark the bicture is bright and beautiful. I have seen this happen when I attached my box to two different Sony TVs as well as a Samsung. I’ve had this problem with the current model 4kAppleTV as well as the prior model. This is clearly an Apple TV issue but makes absolutely no sense to me. Any insights?
