Apple Books Dropping Books I am Currently Reading From "Continue"

Around the time of the macOS 15.7 update, Apple Books began "losing" books from continue.

I am working on a couple of different project where I have as many as 10 books I am concurrently reading at once, but only one open at a time, and jumping between books. (Having multiple books open at a time does not change this problem.) For some reason, the list of books in the "Continue" section of "Home" has become limited to only four books, and it is not necessarily the four most currently read books. Rather, it appears to be the four books with the greatest percentage of the book read.

The problem is not limited to macOS. I have the exact same "Continue" list of four books across all of my devices: MBP, iPhone, and iPad. It does not appear to be an iCloud issue, because when I turn off iCloud the problem persists and the (mis)behavior is identical.

It is also not a space problem, as my MBP file system has 400GB of 2TB free, my iPhone has 194GB of 256GB free, and my iPad has 203GB of 256GB free, and app offloading is disabled.

The "lost" books still show up in my "Library", and may or may not show up in the "Previous" list of books in "Home." I have a few hundred books, so it is really annoying to have to hunt for the "lost" books in my "Library", especially when I am not exactly sure what books have become "lost."

I have tried toggling all settings off/on for Books on all of my devices and that did not fix anything.

Suggestions how to fix this problem appreciated.

Thanks!
