Podcasts not appearing on itunes

Hello

We have a weekly football language podcast and have recently changed domain. We thought everything was fine but our old domain name has not been renewed and we think this might be a reason for podcasts not updating on itunes (and other platforms) but it does appear on our site and on our hosting site.

Any ideas would be great!

Thank you

Damian

There are basically two methods of handling a change to your feed URL - did you carry one of them out?

1 In order to move iTunes to a new feed you have to have access to the old feed to be able to add a tag to it. You need to add the following tag to the top section of the feed, between the 'channel' tag and the first 'item' tag.

<itunes:new-feed-url>NEW URL FOR YOUR FEED</itunes:new-feed-url>

Apple Podcasts will normally pick this up quite quickly but you should leave it there for subscribers for at least 2 weeks - when they next check, their Podcasts application will transfer its attention to the new feed, and indeed this is the only way of retaining your subscribers.

2 Sign into https://podcastsconnect.apple.com/my-podcasts and change your URL in the field provided. This will redirect Apple Podcasts to your feed but will not redirect your existing subscribers.

The 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag is not present in your current feed. However, wouldn't be doing anything there in any case.

As you've re-opened the old domain you need to re-uopload a copy of the feed to the original URL, and make sure to add that tag to it, referring to your new feed URL. Leave it there for two weeks: that gives time for subscribers to access it and get redirected.
