tagging a person or pet not able to move the circle to a face

Sometimes Photos does not recognise a face.

I hit the + in the info panel to add the circle to the photo for tagging.

I then try to move the circle to a face or a pet.

Photos is now not allowing me to move the circle to the actual face or pet.

I try to click and drag the circle to the face or a pet.

Photos does not recognise that I am tying to move the circle and instead thinks I want to drag the photo.

I have done this successfully many times in the past past but now Photos does not seem to allow me to grab and move the circle.

I am being very precise in where I click to drag.

What's the problem?

Photos sees you've been working in the info window, and its focus hasn't changed to the photograph. You have to give it a nudge-- click somewhere on the picture first, or even inside the circle. That will switch the focus and let you move the circle.

Another option is to just type in the name (switching the focus at the same time,) and then move the circle.

(You should let us know what OS you're using-- this first showed up in Ventura, I think.)

I see that, too. It's the sort of thing that happens when I crop a picture, and the face move to different coordinates. I'm not sure if there is a distinct pattern, but it makes some sense if the picture has been cropped.

I hope the "focus" solution is working for you.
