WD Passport connected to iMac until I upgraded to Tahoe

All was well with my older Passport - until I upgraded to Tahoe. Now, it's no longer recognizable. It was connected through two adaptors (old Firewire 400). Work on my MacBook Pro - but then, it's older and updated only to MacOS 12

Any help? Or just get a new drive?

I'm assuming you are referring to Passport drives by Western Digital (WD) ... correct? Is this the drive you are referring to: https://www.amazon.com/Passport-Studio-FireWire-Portable-External/dp/B00378KLYM

If that's the case, then macOS Tahoe does not support FireWire devices via adapters. AFAIK, Apple has removed all system-level FireWire support, including the necessary kernel extensions and drivers for the IEEE 1394 standard, meaning that even when using Thunderbolt or USB adapters to connect FireWire devices, the system does not recognize them.

... so yes, as you predicted, it's time for a new drive.
