As a work-around, that model 13-in 2012 MacBook Pro has a Thunderbolt-1/2/Mini DisplayPort that can be used directly or with a single adapter to connect to an external display up to 2650 by 1600.
It is long beyond the time Apple will look at it for fixing, as they have no more parts.

Perhaps in addition to use of external display via adapter(s)
another choice might be to look into possibility. Acquiring a
repaired or newer version MacBook Pro; however upgrades
were relatively easy.
The Mid-2012 MacBook Pro 13" or 15" models, instructions
on OWC upgrades, website & reference pages; online help.
One of my last portable Macs is this exact model; I upgraded
RAM to maximum, and considered an alternative to the SSD
previous owner had found, with unknown adapter. A 255GB
seems kinda small; but it can run Mojave 10.14.6 well. ~ And
replacement battery was ordered (was available) from OWC.
Other three portable Macs were Early Intel (first edition 13-in)
and last edition iBook G4 (refurbished/Apple) 12-inch 1.33GHz
Plus PowerBook 1.5 G4 Aluminum 12-in with logic board issues..
..were all given, except last one to friend's son & mac hobbiest.
