Since upgrading to Sonoma 14.8.1 on my Mac Air, my touch ID only works part of the time. I now have to enter my password much more often, especially when the Mac wakes up. Is this a known issue?
Touch ID did work when I logged into the Apple Community.

I have not had the cursor problem. I finally went into System Settings, turned off Touch ID, then re-trained it. It is working much better now.
Update to Sonoma OS 14.8.2.
I've been experiencing the same issues. Not only does Touch ID hardly ever work, but the cursor state resets often while I'm trying to type in my password, so I end up having to restart three or four times before being able to get through the whole thing.
