Shut off live phot permanently on iPhone 17

Turn ON Settings>Camera>Preserve Settings>Live Photo

However you set Live will remain that way until you change it. If you're hoping it won't change when you push the button telling it to change, then nothing will work.

This doesn't block Live Photos; it blocks automatic changes. Of course, if you touch the button the instructs the camera to make a Live photo, it will obey. Best advice-- don't touch the button.

Are you using iOS 26? The camera app has most options- including the Live Photo toggle- in a separate menu that's unlikely to be accidentally pressed.
