The general method involves:
- Exporting Bookmarks from Chrome/Edge on your computer as an HTML file.
- Importing the HTML file into Safari on a Mac or using iCloud for Windows to sync bookmarks.
- Syncing Safari on your iPad via iCloud to get the bookmarks.
Method using an HTML File and iCloud (Works on Mac/PC)
This is generally the most reliable way to get all your favorites into iPad Safari.
Step 1: Export Bookmarks to an HTML file
- Open Chrome on your computer.
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Go to Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark Manager.
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right of the Bookmark Manager.
- Select Export bookmarks.
- Save the resulting bookmarks.html file to a location you can easily find (like your Desktop).
In Microsoft Edge:
- Open Edge on your computer.
- Click the three-dot menu (...) in the top-right corner.
- Go to Favorites > ... (More options) > Export favorites.
- Save the resulting favorites.html file.
Get Bookmarks into iCloud
- Open Safari on your Mac.
- Go to File > Import From > Bookmarks HTML File...
- Select the HTML file you exported from Chrome or Edge.
- Make sure iCloud for Safari is enabled on your Mac (System Settings/System Preferences > Your Name/Apple ID > iCloud > Safari). The imported bookmarks will now sync to iCloud.
Step 3: Sync to iPad Safari
- On your iPad, open Settings.
- Tap on your Name/Apple ID at the top.
- Tap iCloud.
- Under Apps Using iCloud, ensure Safari is toggled On (you may need to tap Show All to find it).
