I have also transferred my Google bookmarks on the iCloud drive on my PC as html files. Now I want to import these Favorites to Safari iPAD. There is no IMPORT feature on the Safari browser. How do I do it?

The general method involves:

  1. Exporting Bookmarks from Chrome/Edge on your computer as an HTML file.
  2. Importing the HTML file into Safari on a Mac or using iCloud for Windows to sync bookmarks.
  3. Syncing Safari on your iPad via iCloud to get the bookmarks.

Method using an HTML File and iCloud (Works on Mac/PC)

This is generally the most reliable way to get all your favorites into iPad Safari.

Step 1: Export Bookmarks to an HTML file

  • In Google Chrome:
    1. Open Chrome on your computer.
    2. Click the three-dot menu () in the top-right corner.
    3. Go to Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark Manager.
    4. Click the three-dot menu () in the top-right of the Bookmark Manager.
    5. Select Export bookmarks.
    6. Save the resulting bookmarks.html file to a location you can easily find (like your Desktop).

In Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Edge on your computer.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (...) in the top-right corner.
  3. Go to Favorites > ... (More options) > Export favorites.
  4. Save the resulting favorites.html file.

Get Bookmarks into iCloud

  • If you have a Mac:
    1. Open Safari on your Mac.
    2. Go to File > Import From > Bookmarks HTML File...
    3. Select the HTML file you exported from Chrome or Edge.
    4. Make sure iCloud for Safari is enabled on your Mac (System Settings/System Preferences > Your Name/Apple ID > iCloud > Safari). The imported bookmarks will now sync to iCloud.

Step 3: Sync to iPad Safari

  1. On your iPad, open Settings.
  2. Tap on your Name/Apple ID at the top.
  3. Tap iCloud.
  4. Under Apps Using iCloud, ensure Safari is toggled On (you may need to tap Show All to find it).
