In the middle of working on something, my trackpad suddenly stopped clicking. It still functions.
I have already hard-restarted, cleared cache, forced shutdown. What do I try next?

If you can demonstrate the problem there, they may start the Mac in "Safe Mode" to determine if it persists, so you might as well try that yourself: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support
Sometimes, merely restarting the Mac in "Safe Mode" fixes problems that remain fixed after restarting normally due to some of the actions it performs upon starting up in that mode. Try it.

Its haptic feedback, if that's what you are describing, can be turned on or off in Trackpad Settings.
Thank you for taking the time to answer. I had tried turning off/on that setting a few hours ago and it didn't work. After your message I tried again and restarted. Unfortunately, no change. I've also adjusted the other trackpad settings without any luck. I'd appreciate any other suggestions, but I also booked time at an Apple store tomorrow. I'd love to resolve it without making that trip though!
