I have a MacBookPro 16, Mac OS Tahoe. It is new and when I use my Photos App, the search does not locate any of the albums or specific photos I am looking for. I rebooted, but it still does not work. What can I do?

You don't say how new, but it sounds like it's just a few days, is that right? Before searching can work, Photos has to scan all the pictures in a Library and create a database that it can search through, so it can take several days-- especially if you're using the Mac. Photos doesn't want to slow your work down, so it won't do the scanning until it's quiet. Try leaving it plugged in, turned on, and with Photos in the background for several nights. Sometimes, each day you see more and more hits for a particular search, as it builds the database.

Search is working. I left it plugged in with photos open. Thank you again.
Richard, Got the Mac only a few days ago. Thank you for explaining photos has to scan pictures in library.
How do I leave it with photos in the background for several nights? It will be plugged in and do I just have to leave photos app open?
Very cool! I'm glad it has gotten to working! The problem we all have is that, when we get a new Mac or iPad or iPhone, we want o play with it, take it through it's paces, learn all about it-- and the poor device never gets a chance to catch its breath! It's good to for everybody to get some down time!
I usually have Photos running, but another app in front. Photos needs to know you aren’t using it. Probably Photos could be closed, but no one knows for sure.
