Family Sharing setup freeze on macOS Sierra 10.12.6

Am using OS Sierra 10.12.6 and recently set up family sharing. Tried to add 1 family member. Followed the online support instructions. System froze once I typed in the person's email and clicked submit. Invite not sent or received. I haven't found anything online that addresses this situation. Anyone know of alternative steps for adding a family member?

Anything that can run macoS 10.12 can run at least macOS 10.13.

iMac 21.5” late 2012 and newer can get to macOS 10.15, or potentially newer.

Update your Mac, and see if things get better.
