I see no reason to be nervous. It's normal for the MacBook Air to heat up in use.

This is Apple's guidance for keeping the temp of your laptop low:

Keep your Mac laptop within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support

• Hard, flat surfaces are great for keeping the vents from being obstructed.

The MacBook Air is a fan-less design so it will get warm/hot when the cpu loads increase. Other Macs have fans that work to assist with cooling.

From your post it does not sound as if you're overworking the computer.

You should know that the Mac has internal sensors that monitor the operational temps. When the OS decides things are getting too warm the Mac will protect itself by throttling down the processors, ramping up the fan speed (not on the MBA), and if absolutely necessary will shut down the computer.

At this point, I recommend you continue using the computer as you normally would and don't worry too much about the heat. If you find that it shuts itself off at some point, then you might worry and reevaluate the situation.
