Missing: Predictive text and emoji bar when using Ipad Pro with Magic Keyboard - ios 18 and 26

This has been reported in more than one instance but comments all appeared to be closed and there is to my knowledge no resolution. Hoping someone has found a fix!

Since around ios 18 my magic keyboard has stopped showing the onscreen predictive text bar. This is across the board with native and non-native apps. Just gone.

I upgraded to ios 26 hoping to solve the problem but no go.

I've tried restarting, re-pairing, removing and re-adding the keyboard turning off and on the emoji keyboard and predictive text. This problem is seriously annoying and a real PITA when trying to post on SM.

Has anyone found a fix for this?

P.S. I have already reported it to apple.

You are not alone. I have noted the same issue and, unfortunately for me, this change also prevents the normal scrolling down of the page when using the tab key to move between cells of a table. Instead, upon reaching the bottom of the page, the cursor goes back to the top and does not continue to the next cell below as previously. I have to use my finger on the screen to move down to more cells. Hoping it is a programmer coding error and not by design.

Have you also experienced cursor "jumping"? I.e. you go back into a note or text to add something at the front end and all of a sudden the cursor jumps back to the end and messes up the whole edit? Maddening!

I find it fascinating it wasn't fixed in 26 as I had hoped.
