Thanks for your interest.

I only ask because 2 or 3 times every year, the Microsoft servers are inundated with Spam Calendar invites where there is no option to remove in the Calendar after they have synced. They have to be removed from the Microsoft server where syncing will then remove it from the Calendar. The Microsoft Support forums have many posts that come in waves all the time where users are getting this spam calendar invites and it affects devices across all platforms. Eventually they get a handle on it until it comes up again. The key seems to be finding the email that prompted the spam invite.

I assume you have already tried deleting the spam invite and the option was not available, which is usually the start of another wave of spam invites linked to the Microsoft email accounts. It was just an educated guess based on past experience. I have found the best solution is to stop syncing the Calendar with that outlook email account.

It is fine to leave them. They are more than an annoyance than anything else. As you saw previously, eventually Microsoft is able to get a handle on it, and in the past was able to remove them on their servers, which when synced back to your account will remove them from the Calendar. If you are able to identify the email yourself, you can also delete them, they do remain in your trash (bin) folder for a short period of time depending on your settings before they are removed from the Microsoft server.

Mac Jim. Thank you so much for the prompt useful and informative reply. This is the first time I have used this system and am agreeably impressed. I will be guided by your comments. My thoughts are now to leave the invite where it is. I did have a similar situation about 2 years ago which I was eventually able to remove. (Or I thought it was me who removed it!) You are correct in your assumption that I have tried with various methods none of which worked. I have the impression that I know the email which caused the problem. I have had a ‘ We are shutting your account down … and you need to pay on Pay Pal etc. I had one a few days ago then 2 in quick succession on the day in question. These were Blocked and put in Junk which ended up in the Bin.

My question is Is it reasonable to leave it in the calendar? I imagine there could be others to follow. Thanks again.
