External monitor stuck at 30hz despite working at higher rates prior to Tahoe 26

Hello,

I'm currently using Macbook Air M4 with Philips PHL 354E2 external monitor, connected via USB-C to HDMI dongle.

I know for a fact that this setup does allow higher refresh rates than 30hz, because, prior to the Tahoe update, it worked just right, either with 60hz or 75hz. Even now, from time to time, using 3rd party software like BetterDisplay, I am able to make it work the desired way, but after logging off or simply putting device to sleep, the situation with lower refresh rate comes back.

The Internet suggests that this is happening because of the Tahoe's different way of handling external devices - and hints at changing or overriding the EDID of the display.

Will this issue be fixed in the near future or are there any ways to fix this for now?
