Husband’s 10th generation iPad much slower than my older 8th generation

I’ve had my 8th generation iPad for several years. 128GB storage and I have lots of apps for grandchildren games, use photos a lot etc. so I’ve used about half the storage. It always runs smoothly. Last year my husband bought a 10th generation iPad with 64GB. He only uses it for Mail, Safari and reading one newspaper app and has used less than half its storage. However his iPad is frequently jumpy and slow to load (particularly in the newspaper app) whilst mine is always smooth. He has deleted and reinstalled the app and it was smooth for a little while but then jumpy again the next day. We have superfast broadband with excellent Wi-Fi. Any ideas?

Your description might suggest that the App with which you are having difficulty has not been properly optimised for the iPad 10 - this iPad having different internal hardware to that of your own iPad 8.

You would be best advised to seek assistance from the relevant App Developer:

Otherwise, as the problem survives a forced-restart and reinstallation of the affected App, it may be necessary to reset the iPad's settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings:
