I started a project on FCP X on Mac Pro (mid 2010) with High Sierra v.10.13.6. I retired from TV production and cancelled my subscription. I had a personal project I would like to go back a finish it. What are my chances for working in FCP X on this same machine?

FCP on the mac is not a subscription, it’s a one time purchase. If you still have it installed on your mac there is no impediment for you to use it. But if you don’t have it already, it’s difficult - Apple does no longer provide older versions of the software. The current version requires a recent version of Sequoia, or Tahoe.
