Why Does Apple Not Support a Balance Slider for the Studio Display?

In System Settings, in the Sound Output Tab, with Studio Display selected, there is no balance slider, as has been reported many times. I have read the reason has something to do with the complexity of the audio drivers for various configurations. But how can such a "complex" and sophisticated system's handling of audio configurations not be able to support the simplest one? And at $1,600 at that (not to mention the cost of the Mac Studio I am using)! Also, how is it that I can load an mp3 into Audacity (a free app!), and pan the output left/right all I want using the exact same Display Studio speakers? And yet, I cannot do that with the same mp3 in the Music App? Something does not make sense here. Seems to me, this is something Apple could easily do, but for some reason, does not want to. I don't get it. If someone can clear this up, I (and many others) would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
