"Your Purchase Could Not Be Completed" error on the iTunes Store when making purchases using Apple Gift Card

I recently redeemed a gift card to top up my apple balance for the first time, but i’m unable to pay for an in app purchase which is the sole purpose of me topping it up.


I topped it up with $60 and the subscription i tried to pay for is $49.99 but it keeps declining and showing “your purchase could not be completed, for assistance contact itunes support at…”


I understand some purchases require you to have a card on file to go through, but a friend of mine recently made the exact same purchase without issues with only his apple account as his sole means of payment so that shouldn’t be an issue.

i really don’t understand what the issue is with mine.


To be sure i don’t have an issue with my apple account, i subscribed for my icloud and it went through without any issue.


Please i’d appreciate any help that could help resolve this issue, i tried reaching out to apple support, but i just didn’t know how to cause it kept redirecting me to FAQs which didn’t solve anything.
