Siri not speaking out loud on iPhone

Siri is not speaking out loud anymore.

I have followed all of the steps suggested on the support page. And, I have rebooted the phone twice.

I also turned Siri off and reset all of her settings with no luck. Any other suggestions?

Hello, I'm no expert, but here are a couple things that you could try.

  1. Place your phone flat on a table out of view from your face and try talking to it. Sometimes Siri doesn't speak if it senses you looking at the screen. I think this feature is part of "Attention Aware Features".
  2. Prompt Siri and have it respond and "talking". Press volume up. This adjusts the Siri volume, and is separate from the media volume or ringer volumes.

Best of luck!

Troubleshooting SIRI:

I. Start here: If "Hey Siri" isn't Working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

II. Update your iPhone:

A. iOS 26 is now available, and it is compatible with your iPhone. So, back up your iPhone, and then update it. Updates can contain bug fixes, and include new features.

B. Use of a Computer and Ethernet:

Start with attempting an update through use of a computer. If you cannot use Wi-Fi, then use Ethernet.  See my User Tip: Update your iPhone Using a Computer - Apple Community. On the computer, you would connect it through Ethernet, going directly into your router. For a Mac (or PC) that does not have Ethernet, this would be the adapter to use: Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple. If you get the same error, then it's a hardware error.
