Favorites bar missing aliases in Save dialog on Mac bar is empty

I've been experimenting to see why my computer is SO SLOW to save most files.

I placed items in the Shared folder so I can access them from another user account to see if the problem goes away. More on that later, but for now, something I did seems to have made all the aliases in the Favorites bar go away when I go to save a file. The shortcuts are there in Finder, but not in the Save dialog. Photo attached. How can I get aliases back in the Favorites bar?
